How to bathe the baby in the bath:
The most important rule: Do not leave the child unattended!
• Never leave the baby alone in the bath, not even for a second. A child can drown in very shallow water (just a few centimeters deep) and in a very short time.
• If you need to leave the room (e.g., to answer a phone call or open the door), take the child with you, wrapped in a towel.
• Older siblings cannot replace adult supervision.
Bath placement and stability
• Stable surface: Place the bath only on a flat, stable, and solid surface. • If using a metal stand: Ensure the stand is fully open, locked in place, and positioned on a non-slip floor. Use only a stand that is officially compatible with 102 cm bathtubs. An unsuitable stand may break or tip over under the weight of the water and the child.
• Never place the bathtub on furniture (such as a table, sofa, or bed) not intended for bathing a child.
Water preparation and temperature
• Water quantity: Do not overfill the bathtub. The water level should cover the baby's shoulders only when they are in a semi-reclined position, and the head must always remain safely above the water.
• Checking the temperature: Before placing the child in the water, you must check the temperature using a water thermometer. The ideal water temperature is 36°C – 37°C.
• Checking with your elbow: If a thermometer is unavailable, test the water with the inside of your elbow (this area is more sensitive to heat than your hand)—the water should feel pleasantly warm, not hot.
• Stirring: Stir the water before placing the child in it to eliminate "hot spots" (areas where the water is hotter, such as where it flowed from the tap). Safety during bathing
• Support: Always support the baby with one hand under their head and back, even when using a special newborn bath insert (cradle or sponge). Inserts are merely an aid; they do not replace a parent's hands.
• Drain plug: Ensure the rubber drain plug is securely closed so that water does not accidentally drain out during the bath. Do not allow older children to play with the plug.
After bathing
• Emptying the water: Do not empty or lift the heavy, water-filled bath while the child is still inside it or in the immediate vicinity.
• Care: After each use, wash the bath with mild baby soap, rinse, and dry it to prevent the growth of bacteria or mold.
